Gandhigiri or "TADA"giri?
It is quite baffling that Mr.Sanjay Dutt aka Munnabhai has been let off from being charged under TADA and instead charged under the Arms Act. The terrorist tag has been ripped off from his name much to the rejoice of his Bollywood buddies and relief of his producers.
In his deposition, Sanjay Dutt apparently claimed that he only possessed the weapons for "self defence". I ask you, who on earth would possess an AK-56 for self defence?
AK-56 rifles are used for massacres and mass carnage. When these weapons are coming from Abu Salem, one is tempted to believe that the reasons were more than just self-defence. But now that the judicial system has pronouced it's verdict, it has to be accepted respectfully.

But what is debatable is the mass support that Sanjay Dutt managed to get from Bollywood. Even before the verdict was pronouned, the film fraternity had almost given a clean chit to Mr.Dutt. Perhaps the reel life persona of Munnabhai embracing Gandhigiri had tweaked the mindset of Bollywood into forgetting Dutt's own confession of receiving weapons from Abu Salem which killed thousands of people in Mumbhai, the home of Bollywood. Perhaps the Munnabhai-Circuit combo erazed all memories of the infamous Sanjay Dutt-Chhota Shakeel phone conversation where Dutt was asking favors from the Underworld.

Now that Dutt will most likely re-appleal his verdict and also for an extension of his verdict, his comeuppance seems least likely. Sigh! Celebrities and politicians, they always walk away scot-free.
